Style Choices

There are many ways to create a personal style that is unique and meaningful to you. Everybody's haircut says something about their personality, no matter how simple or outrageous it might be. And how you dress also says a lot, even if you are required to wear a uniform for school or work. Little flashes of flair or hints of color can make any outfit yours, and wearing basic clothing tells the world that you have better things to do than spend your time on fashion. But besides these fashion choices that everyone makes (except maybe an Army recruit) there are many more creative style decisions you can make to change up your look.
For men, one choice is how to groom your facial hair. A clean faced man spends the time to maintain a sleek look, while someone with a Zack Galifinakis beard is probably trying to keep people away. A finely waxed mustache indicates a fashionable person, quite possibly a hipster. A man's watch also says something about him - whether he is practical, showy, or a techie with a Samsung Smart Watch.
Women have more options in most aspects of how to change up their look. There are a wide variety of types and shades of makeup to accentuate facial features or cover up blemishes. Rings, bracelets, and other jewelry are another common accessory. While men increasingly wear some jewelry such as earrings, it is far more socially acceptable for the fairer sex. A purse is another common way to express a sense of style and/or brand loyalty. And although women don't generally have beards, they do have a range of choices to make about styling their body hair. In America, it is unusual for women to let their underarm and leg hair grow, unless they stay covered up with long sleeves and pants or stockings during the cold winter months. Waxing and shaving are the most common ways to remove body hair, while laser hair removal is also an option. These hair removal options are also available for the most personal choice - which of the many pubic hairstyles to groom. Currently a clean shaven or Brazilian wax look are very common, as opposed to much of the 70s and 80s when full bushes were the norm. Many women also keep their pubic hair neatly trimmed or shave around the edges to keep it from peeking out of their underwear or bikini bottom.

Injuries Can Be Personal

Injuries: they happen to all runners, sooner or later, no matter how carefully you run or how good your form.  And they are unique to each and every person, making recovery from an injury a personal matter of rest, medication, and therapy.  Each runner has his or her own particular physiology that requires custom medical treatment to get back in tip top shape.

Personal Injury Recovery

Now when I say personal injury recovery, I don't mean the type that requires a personal injury lawyer!  You are recovering from damages inflicted by the road, gravity, and your own body pounding the pavement rather than something caused by negligence.  Unless you are hit by a car or something, but I digress.  Whatever your type of injury, following the RICE standard is a universally recommended way to get back on your feet.

R  for Rest - stay off your feet as much as possible to allow your body to heal.  You are constantly repairing small muscles tears and other tiny injuries incurred by everyday movement, so minimizing these allows your body's repair mechanisms to focus on the bigger injury.

I for Ice - keeping the injured area cold reduces swelling, pain, and inflammation.

C for Compression - this keeps the swelling down by physically not allowing it to swell.  The volume around the injury is constricted, so it can't get any bigger.

E for Elevation - raising your injured area above your heart will also help minimize swelling.  The harder blood has to work to get there, the less of it there will be!

Using RICE is the best way to recover fast from a minor injury and speed the healing of a more major one that requires medical assistance.  Stay safe out there and recover quickly to put more miles on your shoes!
